Cargills Bank Limited is a Sri Lanka-based licensed commercial bank that provides a comprehensive suite of retail, corporate, small and medium-sized enterprise (SME), and agribusiness banking and financial solutions. Headquartered in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and incorporated in 2011 with commercial operations commencing in 2014, the bank operates as an affiliate of CT Holdings PLC and Cargills (Ceylon) PLC, one of the country's largest retail, manufacturing, and distribution conglomerates. Cargills Bank serves retail consumers, micro-entrepreneurs, agricultural producers, SMEs, and corporate entities across Sri Lanka through a hybrid delivery network that integrates traditional branches, digital platforms, and an extensive supermarket-based agency banking infrastructure. The bank organizes its operations into three primary business segments: Retail Banking, Corporate and SME Banking, and Agribusiness and Microfinance. Its Retail Banking offering includes consumer deposit products, comprising High Return Saver accounts, standard savings, children's savings, senior citizen accounts, foreign currency accounts, and fixed deposits; consumer lending solutions, comprising personal loans, residential housing loans, automobile financing, and loans against property; payment card products, including international credit cards, debit cards, and co-branded payment cards; electronic banking channels, featuring the Cargills Bank DIGI mobile banking application and web-based internet banking; and Cargills Cash supermarket agency banking services, which allow customers to execute cash deposits, withdrawals, and merchant payments at retail counters nationwide. The Corporate and SME Banking segment provides working capital facilities; term loans; project and structured finance; trade finance solutions, including documentary credits, collections, shipping guarantees, and customs bonds; treasury products, including foreign currency exchange spot and forward contracts, liquidity management, and government securities trading; cash management services; and tailored SME development initiatives under the Cargills SME Circle program. The Agribusiness and Microfinance segment delivers seasonal agricultural cultivation loans; value chain and outgrower supply financing; micro-enterprise facilities; and equipment lease-financing arrangements designed to support agricultural supply chains and foster financial inclusion in rural regions. In recent corporate developments, Cargills Bank listed its ordinary voting shares on the Colombo Stock Exchange (Ticker: CBNK.N0000) following a successful initial public offering (IPO) in early 2024, marking the first commercial bank IPO in Sri Lanka in a decade. To support regulatory capital adequacy requirements and fund credit growth across its corporate, retail, and SME loan portfolios, the bank executed a Rs. 2.5 billion equity rights issue in early 2026. The bank expanded its agency banking reach across more than 530 Cargills Food City supermarket locations island-wide, enhancing its retail cash distribution and alternative banking channel access. In March 2025, Cargills Bank finalized a strategic financial collaboration with PMF Finance PLC aimed at expanding credit delivery and financial support mechanisms for micro, small, and medium-sized businesses. The institution has also advanced its multi-year digital transformation roadmap, executing major functional upgrades to the Cargills Bank DIGI digital platform and core transaction systems, while introducing targeted consumer credit card loyalty campaigns and expanded merchant acquiring partnerships.
