DFCC Bank PLC is a Sri Lanka-based licensed commercial bank and development finance institution that provides a comprehensive range of commercial, retail, development, and investment banking products and financial services to individual consumers, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), corporate entities, and institutional clients. Founded in 1955 as the Development Finance Corporation of Ceylon and headquartered in Colombo, Sri Lanka, the bank operates across core business segments comprising Retail Banking, Corporate and SME Banking, Treasury and Capital Markets, Islamic Banking, and IT and Consultancy Services. The bank offers a diverse portfolio of financial products and services, including consumer deposit products such as current accounts, savings accounts (including DFCC Junior, DFCC Teen, DFCC Senior, and DFCC Winner schemes), fixed deposits, foreign currency accounts, and certificates of deposit; retail financing facilities comprising housing loans, personal loans, educational loans, automobile leasing, and gold-backed pawning services; and payment cards including credit cards, debit cards, and prepaid cards. Digital banking solutions are delivered through the DFCC One mobile banking application, DFCC Virtual Wallet, DFCC Pay, online banking portals, and DFCC MySpace self-banking kiosks. For commercial, corporate, and SME clients, the bank provides working capital loans, term lending, project and infrastructure finance, syndicated loan facilities, equipment leasing, and specialized agricultural credit lines; comprehensive trade finance solutions encompassing documentary letters of credit, import and export financing, collections, shipping guarantees, and performance bonds; corporate cash management services via the proprietary DFCC iConnect digital platform; and green financing facilities. The Treasury and Capital Markets segment oversees foreign exchange trading, fixed income and government securities operations, liquidity management, and interest rate derivative instruments. In addition, the bank provides Shari'ah-compliant banking solutions through DFCC Al-Islami. DFCC Bank also delivers information technology and financial software solutions through its subsidiary Synapsys Limited, business consultancy through DFCC Consulting (Pvt) Limited, industrial estate management via Lanka Industrial Estates Limited, and investment banking, stockbroking, and asset management services through its joint venture entity, Acuity Partners (Pvt) Limited. In recent developments, DFCC Bank PLC has advanced its strategic focus on sustainable climate finance, digital transformation, and capital optimization. The bank obtained official accreditation from the United Nations-backed Green Climate Fund (GCF), establishing it as the first institution in Sri Lanka authorized to directly access and deploy international concessionary climate financing for low-emission and climate-resilient projects. The bank has also established strategic funding and risk-sharing partnerships with international development organizations, including credit assistance and guarantee agreements with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to facilitate access to finance for export-oriented SMEs, micro-enterprises, and women-led businesses. Operationally, the bank has expanded its digital service delivery through end-to-end digital customer onboarding capabilities and enterprise enhancements to its DFCC iConnect cash management platform, while successfully issuing Basel III-compliant Tier 2 listed debentures to bolster its regulatory capital adequacy and support ongoing loan portfolio expansion across Sri Lanka.
