- Nationale d'Electrolyse et de Petrochimie (Ste) SA, commonly known as SNEP, is a Morocco-based chemical manufacturer that specializes in the production and commercialization of chlor-alkali and vinyl petrochemical products. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Mohammedia, Morocco, the company operates as an industrial subsidiary of Ynna Holding and is listed on the Casablanca Stock Exchange. SNEP is the sole domestic producer of chlorine in Morocco and a leading supplier of vinyl solutions, serving critical supply chains across building and construction, drinking water treatment, sanitation, agricultural irrigation, automotive manufacturing, mining, detergents, textiles, and food processing. The company organizes its commercial activities into two main divisions: Vinyl Products and Electrolysis Products. Its primary product offerings include polyvinyl chloride (PVC) suspension and emulsion resins utilized in the extrusion of pressure pipes, conduit profiles, and flexible films; specialized PVC compounds tailored for industrial cables, fittings, and footwear; caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) offered in liquid and flake grades for industrial processing, alumina refining, and soap manufacturing; liquid and gaseous chlorine essential for municipal water treatment and chemical synthesis; sodium hypochlorite (bleach) used as a commercial disinfectant and bleaching agent; hydrochloric acid applied in metal pickling, chemical synthesis, and pH regulation; and compressed hydrogen derived as an electrolysis by-product. SNEP operates an integrated manufacturing complex in Mohammedia utilizing energy-efficient membrane electrolysis technology. In recent developments, the company finalized a 600 million Moroccan dirham industrial expansion program that increased its annual nominal manufacturing capacity to 90,000 metric tons of PVC resin and 25,000 metric tons of PVC compounds. The capital project incorporated Honeywell digital distributed control systems and SAP enterprise management software to automate process controls, enhance operational safety, and drive plant performance. Over the recent operational periods, SNEP has shifted its strategic focus toward industrial stabilization, plant ramp-up, energy efficiency optimization, and financial deleveraging, while working in alignment with domestic trade policy adjustments and tariff frameworks on PVC imports to navigate global market price volatility and strengthen its domestic market positioning.
