- VanEck Digital India ETF (DGIN) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks to replicate the price and yield performance, before fees and expenses, of the MVIS Digital India Index (MVDINDTR). The index tracks companies involved in supporting the digitization of the Indian economy, including those in software; hardware; information technology services and consulting; communications equipment and infrastructure; telecommunication services; internet applications; and e-commerce sites such as online financial services and electronic payment processing. Launched on February 15, 2022, and managed by VanEck, a New York City-headquartered global investment manager founded in 1955, DGIN provides U.S. investors targeted exposure to leading Indian digital economy participants like Bharti Airtel Ltd., Reliance Industries Ltd., Infosys Ltd., Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., and HCL Technologies Ltd., with primary operations concentrated in India.
The ETF's portfolio emphasizes sectors critical to India's digital transformation, with top weightings in information technology (approximately 43%), communication services (18%), financials (13%), and consumer discretionary (13%), alongside holdings in energy and industrials. It maintains around 50 holdings, market-cap weighted with an 8% single-stock cap, and is reconstituted quarterly to capture evolving digitization trends amid India's rapid digital adoption, young population, expanding middle class, and supportive regulatory environment. As of December 2025, DGIN manages total net assets of about $18.7 million with a 0.74% expense ratio and trades on NYSE Arca.
Recent developments include modest assets under management growth to roughly $19-22 million amid ongoing portfolio adjustments, such as position changes in holdings like Vodafone Idea Ltd., reflecting quarterly rebalancing and market dynamics in India's capital markets. No major partnerships, acquisitions, funding rounds, or strategic shifts specific to DGIN have been reported in 2024 or 2025; however, VanEck continues to highlight the ETF's role in capturing new IPOs, increased foreign investment, and fintech disruptions driving India's economic momentum. The fund distributed dividends in 2024 ($0.00 total) and maintains currency exposure primarily to the Indian rupee (79%), U.S. dollar (21%), and minor others.
