- CVO Petrochemical Refinery PLC is a Bangladesh-based downstream energy and petroleum refining company engaged in the processing of natural gas condensate into various refined hydrocarbon fuels and petrochemical derivatives. Founded in 1990 and headquartered in Chattogram, Bangladesh, the company operates an industrial hydrocarbon distillation and fractionation facility located in the Nasirabad Industrial Area of Chattogram. CVO Petrochemical Refinery PLC operates primarily through its Hydrocarbon Refining business segment, catering to state-owned energy marketing agencies, public utilities, and domestic industrial consumers across Bangladesh.
The company manufactures and distributes a systematic portfolio of refined petroleum products and chemical solvents, which includes: Motor Spirit (MS/Petrol), utilized as fuel for spark-ignition internal combustion engines in transportation; High-Speed Diesel (HSD), supplied for commercial transportation, agricultural machinery, and industrial power generation; Superior Kerosene Oil (SKO), produced for domestic heating, lighting, and industrial solvent use; Mineral Turpentine (MTT), utilized as an industrial thinner, solvent, and feedstock in the paints, varnishes, and coating industries; Light Diesel Oil (LDO), formulated for industrial furnaces, boilers, and stationary diesel engines; and Special Boiling Point Solvents and Naphtha fractions, supplied for manufacturing, cleaning, and chemical extraction applications. Refined petroleum products are distributed predominantly to state distribution entities, including subsidiaries of the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) such as Padma Oil Company Limited, Meghna Petroleum Limited, and Jamuna Oil Company Limited.
In recent developments, CVO Petrochemical Refinery PLC executed major operational and strategic agreements to secure uninterrupted raw material supply and commercial distribution channels. The company entered into formalized natural gas condensate supply contracts with state-run upstream entity Sylhet Gas Fields Limited (SGFL) and finalized refined petroleum procurement and offloading arrangements with the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) and Padma Oil Company Limited. In addition, the company transitioned its corporate structure to Public Limited Company (PLC) status in accordance with statutory governance guidelines in Bangladesh, upgraded its distillation units and laboratory testing infrastructure to align with revised national fuel quality and environmental compliance standards, and optimized its processing throughput to support sustained refining capacity utilization.
