Islamic Finance & Investment PLC is a Bangladesh-based non-banking financial institution that provides Shariah-compliant financial products and investment services to corporate, institutional, small and medium-sized enterprise, and retail clients. Established in 2001 as the first Shariah-based financial institution in Bangladesh and headquartered in Dhaka, the company operates across key commercial centers in the country through specialized corporate finance, CMSME financing, retail finance, and deposit mobilization divisions.
The company offers a comprehensive range of Islamic financing and investment products, including lease financing (Ijara and Ijara Muntahiya Bittamleek) for capital machinery, industrial plants, transport fleets, and commercial equipment; cost-plus sale financing (Murabaha and Bai-Muajjal) for working capital, industrial raw materials, and trading merchandise; hire purchase under Shirkatul Melk for commercial and private vehicles, heavy equipment, and real property; home financing and the House Hold Durables Scheme for residential construction, flat and commercial space purchases, and property renovation; structured project and syndicated financing for large-scale corporate ventures; specialized CMSME credit facilities, including the Lin-Nisa financing program designed for women entrepreneurs; and Shariah-compliant short-term Quard liquidity facilities. Its deposit and savings product suite comprises Mudaraba Term Deposit; Mudaraba Monthly Profit Scheme; Mudaraba Special Deposit Scheme; Mudaraba Asaan Deposit Scheme; Mudaraba Hajj Deposit Scheme; Mudaraba House Owning Scheme; Mudaraba Multi-Millionaire and term-multiplier schemes; and Cash Waqf deposit accounts.
In recent developments, the company officially rebranded from Islamic Finance and Investment Limited to Islamic Finance & Investment PLC in late 2024 to adhere to regulatory mandates for publicly listed corporate entities in Bangladesh. The institution has also undergone top-level executive and management restructuring, including the appointment of new senior leadership to direct institutional recovery, risk management, and governance frameworks. In response to recent financial pressures, the company has initiated strategic balance sheet rehabilitation, comprehensive portfolio consolidation to reduce non-performing assets, and independent fixed-asset revaluations of its land and properties to strengthen capital reporting. Concurrently, the company continues to expand targeted credit allocations toward women-led CMSMEs and upgrade its digital banking and core operational systems across its branch network.
