- LafargeHolcim Bangladesh PLC is a Bangladesh-based building materials manufacturer engaged in the production, marketing, and distribution of cement, clinker, aggregates, and specialized construction solutions, as well as the provision of industrial waste management services. The company operates across three core business segments: Cement and Clinker, Aggregates, and Sustainable Waste Management. Its product and service portfolio encompasses a wide range of Portland and blended cements marketed under established brand names, including Holcim Strong Structure, Holcim Water Protect, Holcim Coastal Guard for salinity- and sulfate-resistant applications, Holcim Grey, Holcim Optima, Supercrete, and Supercrete Plus; high-grade crushed limestone aggregates engineered for civil engineering, infrastructure development, and concrete batching; and specialized ready-mix concrete solutions, including Powercrete, an engineered low-carbon concrete formulation designed for high-rise buildings and major infrastructure projects. Through its specialized Geocycle business unit, the company delivers industrial, commercial, and municipal waste management services, utilizing thermal co-processing in high-temperature cement kilns to safely dispose of non-recyclable solid and hazardous waste while substituting fossil fuels. Founded in 1997 and headquartered in Dhaka, Bangladesh, the company operates as a joint venture between Switzerland-based Holcim Group and Spain-based Cementos Molins. LafargeHolcim Bangladesh PLC operates the country's only fully integrated cement plant located in Chhatak, Sunamganj, which is supplied with raw limestone via a 17-kilometer cross-border conveyor system from the captive quarries of its wholly owned subsidiary, Lafarge Umiam Mining Private Limited, in Meghalaya, India. The company also operates grinding and distribution facilities in Meghnaghat and Mongla to serve building and infrastructure markets nationwide. In recent operational developments, the company introduced Powercrete to address the commercial ready-mix concrete market with a sustainable product delivering up to 36% lower carbon emissions compared to standard Ordinary Portland Cement. Furthermore, the company committed an investment of Tk 180 crore to install a new high-efficiency industrial grinding mill at its Surma plant in Chhatak to enhance production capacity and reduce energy consumption, while simultaneously expanding its Geocycle municipal and post-consumer plastic waste co-processing agreements with urban local bodies and industrial manufacturers.
