Business
Wata Chemicals Limited is a Bangladesh-based chemical manufacturing company engaged in the production, processing, and marketing of basic industrial chemicals and specialty chemical compounds. Incorporated in 1981 and headquartered in Dhaka, Bangladesh, the company operates integrated manufacturing and processing facilities located in Rupganj, Narayanganj. Wata Chemicals manufactures a diverse portfolio of basic inorganic chemicals and industrial raw materials, comprising commercial-, battery-, and reagent-grade sulphuric acid; linear alkyl benzene sulphonic acid (LABSA) used as an active surfactant in detergent and surfactant manufacturing; solid and liquid aluminium sulphate, including ferric alum and non-ferric alum, for industrial and potable water treatment as well as paper sizing; magnesium sulphate heptahydrate (Epsom salt) for agricultural soil treatment, leather tanning, and pharmaceutical processing; and zinc sulphate monohydrate and heptahydrate for agricultural fertilizer enrichment and industrial applications. The company caters to a wide array of domestic industrial sectors, including textile dyeing and wet processing, municipal water purification, pulp and paper manufacturing, battery production, pharmaceuticals, soaps and synthetic detergents, and commercial agriculture. In recent years, Wata Chemicals has advanced significant capital expansion and operational enhancement initiatives, including the commissioning of modernized, automated production units for sulphuric acid and LABSA to substantially increase domestic output, the implementation of waste-heat recovery systems to generate captive energy and reduce thermal emissions, and the technological upgrading of its effluent treatment and environmental management infrastructure to support expanded operational capacity and meet rising industrial chemical demand across Bangladesh.
