In recent major developments, US Ecology completed a merger with NRC Group Holdings Corp. in November 2019, forming a new holding company that retained the US Ecology name and ticker ECOL while expanding capabilities in environmental, compliance, and industrial services; the company was acquired by Republic Services, Inc. in May 2022 for $2.2 billion, delisting its shares from Nasdaq and integrating into Republic's environmental solutions platform as a subsidiary, which enhances vertical integration, cross-selling opportunities, and tuck-in acquisition potential while adding difficult-to-replicate assets.
