Business
Education Management Corporation historically operated as a provider of higher education institutions across North America. The organization delivered diverse academic offerings, enabling students to pursue degrees at undergraduate and graduate levels, alongside specialized non-degree credentials through both physical campuses and digital learning platforms. Its curriculum spanned a broad spectrum of fields, including business administration, culinary arts, various design disciplines, teacher education, fashion design, health sciences, information technology, legal studies, media production, and psychological and behavioral sciences. Established in 1962, the company maintained its principal offices in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After facing significant operational challenges and divesting many of its educational assets, Education Management Corporation formally initiated a Chapter 7 liquidation on June 29, 2018, by filing a petition with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, leading to the wind-down of its corporate structure. This action was undertaken in joint administration with entities such as The Art Institute of Philadelphia Limited Partnership.
