Business
Global X Telemedicine & Digital Health ETF (EDOC) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks to provide investment results corresponding generally to the price and yield performance, before fees and expenses, of the Solactive Telemedicine & Digital Health Index. The fund invests at least 80% of its total assets, plus borrowings for investment purposes, in securities comprising the underlying index and in American Depositary Receipts and Global Depositary Receipts based thereon; it employs a replication strategy to hold approximately 40 constituents, including leading holdings such as Illumina Inc., Veracyte Inc., Labcorp Holdings Inc., Quest Diagnostics Inc., and IQVIA Holdings Inc., with primary sector exposure to health technology (40%), health services (28%), and technology services (16%). Launched on July 29, 2020 by Global X Management Company LLC, a Mirae Asset Global Investments affiliate headquartered in New York, the ETF targets companies deriving at least 50% of revenues from telemedicine, healthcare analytics, connected healthcare devices, or administrative digitization; eligible constituents span large-, mid-, and small-capitalization issuers across developed markets including the United States, Australia, Canada, Europe, Israel, Japan, South Korea, and others. In a major strategic shift effective April 1, 2025, the fund undergoes a name change to Global X HealthTech ETF (HEAL), accompanied by a ticker symbol change from EDOC to HEAL, an underlying index transition from the Solactive Telemedicine & Digital Health Index to the proprietary Global X HealthTech Index (provided by Global X Management Company LLC and administered by Mirae Asset Global Indices Pvt. Ltd.), and a management fee reduction from 0.68% to 0.50%. The new index refocuses eligibility on "HealthTech Companies" generating at least 50% of revenue from healthcare analytics and software solutions, smart medical devices, artificial intelligence-enabled drug discovery, or tech-enabled consumer healthcare, maintaining modified market-cap weighting with semi-annual reconstitution. These enhancements align the fund more closely with advancing healthcare technology themes amid evolving digital health demands, while Global X continues to expand its thematic ETF suite globally through Mirae Asset platforms in the US, Europe, Brazil, Canada, and Asia.
