- Alexandria Portland Cement Company, commonly known as Alexandria Cement, is an Egypt-based industrial materials manufacturer engaged in the production, processing, and commercial distribution of cement, clinker, and related construction solutions. Founded in 1948 and headquartered in Alexandria, Egypt, the company operates as a core operational subsidiary of the international building materials group TITAN Cement within its Titan Cement Egypt division.
The company manufactures and supplies a specialized portfolio of hydraulic cements and construction inputs tailored for residential, commercial, and heavy infrastructure applications, comprising: Ordinary Portland Cement (including CEM I 42.5 N, CEM I 42.5 R, and high-strength CEM I 52.5 N) for reinforced structures, precast concrete, and civil engineering projects; Portland-Composite and Pozzolanic Cements (including CEM II/A-P 42.5 N, CEM II/B-P 42.5 N, and CEM II/B-LL 32.5 R) engineered for general masonry, bricklaying, and structural concrete with reduced carbon footprints; Blast Furnace and Slag-Based Cements (including CEM III/A 42.5 N) designed for maritime construction, aggressive soil conditions, and massive concrete pours requiring low heat of hydration; Sulfate-Resistant Portland Cement for sewage systems, marine structures, and foundations exposed to chemical sulfates; commercial gray clinker for domestic and overseas grinding plants; ready-mix concrete formulations; crushed limestone aggregates and sands; bagged and bulk hydrated lime; building mortars; and plastering gypsum. Additionally, the company provides technical advisory services, quality control testing, supply chain logistics, and industrial waste co-processing services utilizing Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) and biomass in its kiln operations.
Alexandria Cement operates an integrated production complex situated in the Dekhela (El-Maks/Wadi El-Kamar) district of Alexandria, functioning alongside affiliated operations at the Beni Suef Cement plant to command an aggregate domestic production capacity of approximately 4.5 million metric tons annually. The company distributes products throughout Egypt and exports to international markets across the Mediterranean basin, West Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas.
In recent corporate and operational developments, Alexandria Cement expanded its international export infrastructure through a 10 million euro capital investment in two new coastal export silos at its Alexandria facility, facilitating its initial maritime shipments of Type I/II cement to the United States and initiating a multi-year program to expand export capacity toward 1.3 million metric tons per year. Following TITAN Group's consolidation of minority shareholdings and the company's subsequent voluntary delisting from the Egyptian Exchange (EGX), Alexandria Cement has advanced its decarbonization and operational efficiency roadmap by increasing thermal substitution rates via alternative fuels, upgrading electrostatic precipitators and bag filters for particulate emission control, and expanding its production mix of low-carbon, calcined, and composite binders in alignment with group-wide sustainability targets.
