Egypt Aluminum SAE (Egyptalum) is an Egypt-based joint-stock company engaged in the smelting, refining, manufacturing, and distribution of primary aluminium and downstream fabricated aluminium products. Founded in 1969 and headquartered in Nag Hammadi, Qena Governorate, Egypt, the company operates under the majority ownership of the state-owned Metallurgical Industries Holding Company. Egypt Aluminum produces and markets an extensive portfolio of semi-finished and finished aluminium goods, including primary foundry alloys, standard remelt ingots, T-bars, and sows for casting and alloying; extrusion billets for architectural, automotive, and industrial extrusion; continuous cast wire rods and electrical redraw rods for high-voltage transmission cables and electrical wiring; flat-rolled products, including hot-rolled coils, cold-rolled coils, corrugated sheets, plain sheets, and circular discs for cookware and industrial fabrication; custom extruded profiles and architectural sections for building, construction, and transport industries; and carbon paste and anode blocks for metallurgical applications. The company operates a fully integrated smelter complex, casting units, rolling mills, and extrusion facilities in Nag Hammadi, supplying domestic manufacturing sectors across Egypt as well as exporting to more than fifty countries across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, Asia, and the Americas. In recent strategic and operational developments, Egypt Aluminum has undertaken a comprehensive modernization and rehabilitation program across its existing production potlines to enhance operational efficiency, reduce specific power consumption, and elevate annual primary aluminium production capacity beyond 320,000 metric tons. To decarbonize industrial operations and advance green aluminium initiatives, the company signed a strategic partnership and power purchase framework with Norway-based renewable energy producer Scatec to develop a dedicated 1-gigawatt solar photovoltaic plant to supply clean electricity to the Nag Hammadi complex. Furthermore, the company is advancing value-chain diversification through the development of a new aluminium foil manufacturing facility to serve domestic packaging markets and is conducting feasibility assessments for establishing an integrated alumina refinery project to secure long-term raw material supplies.
