Business
Suez Cement Co. SAE, operating commercially as Heidelberg Materials Egypt, is an Egypt-based building materials manufacturer engaged in the production, marketing, and distribution of cement, clinker, ready-mix concrete, and industrial packaging solutions. Founded in 1977 and headquartered in Cairo, Egypt, the company operates as a major subsidiary of the German multinational building materials group Heidelberg Materials AG, and maintains controlling stakes in Egyptian industrial entities including Helwan Cement Company, Tourah Portland Cement Company, Ready Mix Concrete Al Alamia, and Suez Bags Company. The company offers a comprehensive portfolio of products and services, comprising grey cement products, such as Ordinary Portland Cement (CEM I 42.5 N), Portland Pozzolana Cement (CEM II/A-P 42.5 N), and Sulphate Resistant Cement (CEM IV/A (P) 42.5 N SR); specialized low-carbon cements and sustainable construction products commercialized under the EvoBuild brand; bulk clinker for domestic and industrial applications; standard, high-performance, and custom ready-mix concrete solutions for residential, commercial, and national infrastructure projects; multi-wall kraft paper bags and industrial packaging products; and construction materials testing, technical advisory, and supply chain logistics services. Suez Cement operates an integrated production network across Egypt, with primary manufacturing plants located in Suez, Kattameya, Helwan, and Tourah, supplying building and civil engineering contractors across domestic governorates as well as export markets across Africa and the Middle East. In recent corporate developments, the company executed a comprehensive corporate rebranding in September 2023, transitioning its commercial identity from Suez Cement Group to Heidelberg Materials Egypt to align with its parent company's global decarbonization and digitalization roadmap. In September 2024, the company commissioned a 30 million USD Waste Heat Recovery System (WHRS) at its Helwan plant to capture industrial waste heat and generate electricity, covering approximately 30 percent of the facility's power requirements while curbing greenhouse gas emissions. In June 2025, the company introduced its EvoBuild product line of low-carbon building materials across Egypt, advancing its 2030 Sustainability Commitments centered on carbon neutrality, circular economy utilization, and alternative fuel adoption.
