Business
Natixis U.S. Equity Opportunities ETF (EQOP) is an actively managed exchange-traded fund that seeks long-term growth of capital by investing at least 80% of its assets in U.S. equity securities, including exchange-traded common stocks and preferred stocks; it employs a multi-manager approach utilizing the expertise of portfolio managers from Natixis affiliates Harris Associates and Loomis Sayles & Co. to select growth and value stocks across diversified market capitalizations, with holdings such as Meta Platforms, Alphabet, Amazon.com, Oracle, and NVIDIA among its top positions as of mid-2022. Launched on September 17, 2020, under Natixis ETF Trust II and listed on the NYSE, the fund pioneered semi-transparent active ETF structures through a partnership with the NYSE's Proxy Portfolio Methodology, which discloses daily proxy portfolios to enable tight bid-ask spreads while protecting active trading strategies; it was supported by State Street for custody, fund accounting, and customized allocation processes. Headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, as part of Natixis Investment Managers—a global asset manager with approximately $1.4 trillion in assets under management, primarily serving institutional and retail investors in equities, fixed income, and alternatives—the ETF targeted U.S. large-cap and broad market equity segments before its closure. In a major strategic change, Natixis Investment Managers announced the liquidation of the EQOP fund in June 2023 due to low assets under management and trading volume, with trading halted and proceeds distributed to shareholders on or about July 25, 2023; this followed broader portfolio rationalization amid challenges in scaling the semi-transparent model, though Natixis continues active ETFs like those from Vaughan Nelson and Gateway Investment Advisers.
