The First Trust Indxx Critical Metals ETF provides passive exposure to companies focused on the extraction and supply of essential metals. The fund's methodology selects securities from developed and emerging markets, excluding Vietnam, where the listing country is a member or partner of the Minerals Security Partnership. To qualify, companies must generate revenue from North America and maintain no operational presence in China or Russia. The selection process further requires entities to meet specific criteria regarding size, market liquidity, price thresholds, security type, and operational history. Securities are categorized into distinct sub-themes: Sustainable Energy Metals, supporting solar and wind energy production; NextGen Mobility Metals, vital for electric vehicle battery manufacturing; and Other High Technology Metals, applicable across advanced technology sectors. A key emphasis is placed on companies demonstrating positive revenue generation within North America during their most recent fiscal year. The index ultimately selects up to 50 securities, which are then weighted by their free-float market capitalization, subject to specific capping restrictions. The underlying index undergoes reconstitution and rebalancing every six months. The ETF was introduced on November 4, 2025, marking First Trust's 300th exchange-traded fund.
