Business
ASX Limited (ASX.AX) operates Australia's primary integrated securities exchange, providing listings, trading, clearing, settlement, data, technology and post-trade services across equities, fixed income, commodities, energy and derivatives markets; its core offerings include issuer listing and compliance services, cash equity and derivatives trading venues, central counterparty clearing for exchange-traded and over-the-counter products, settlement and registry services for equities and debt securities, market data and pricing information, technical infrastructure such as connectivity and co-location, and payment platforms for high-value transactions and electricity markets. Founded in 1987 through the amalgamation of state-based exchanges and headquartered at Exchange Centre in Sydney, New South Wales, the company serves domestic and international participants with operations focused primarily in Australia alongside offices in Chicago, London, Hong Kong, Melbourne and Perth. ASX structures its business across four main divisions: Listings, Markets, Technology & Data, and Securities & Payments, while promoting corporate governance standards and investor education. In recent developments, ASX implemented Service Release 15 (SR15) in June 2025, introducing enhancements to opening and closing auction mechanics including the removal of the opening auction stagger and addition of a post-close trading session, alongside ongoing CHESS replacement project milestones such as the completion of Implementation Dress Rehearsal 1 in November 2025 and new roadmap initiatives addressing a December 2024 batch settlement incident.
