Business
The Chikuho Bank, Ltd. is a Japan-based regional financial institution primarily engaged in the provision of commercial banking, leasing, and financial advisory services to individual consumers and small to medium-sized enterprises. Founded in 1952 and headquartered in Kurume, Fukuoka Prefecture, the bank operates an extensive branch network across Fukuoka Prefecture and surrounding areas in northern Kyushu. The company operates through two principal business segments: Banking and Leasing. The Banking segment delivers a broad portfolio of financial solutions, including deposit accounts such as ordinary deposits, savings deposits, term deposits, floating-rate deposits, tax-payment reserve deposits, installment savings, and negotiable certificates of deposit; financing and credit facilities encompassing residential housing mortgages, home renovation loans, automobile loans, education loans, card loans, multi-purpose personal credit, working capital facilities, and capital investment loans for corporations; domestic and foreign exchange transactions; over-the-counter distribution of government bonds and investment trusts; insurance underwriting agency services covering individual annuity, whole life, cancer, medical, and nursing care policies; cashless payment solutions and integrated credit cards, including the Chikugin Martina Card; automated transfer and payroll settlement systems; safe deposit box custody; and comprehensive corporate advisory services encompassing business succession planning and corporate turnaround assistance. The Leasing segment, operated through the bank's consolidated subsidiary Chikugin Lease Co., Ltd., provides commercial leasing, installment sales, and management rationalization consulting for information technology hardware, office automation equipment, industrial machinery, and transportation vehicles. In recent developments, The Chikuho Bank mutually agreed with SBI Holdings in December 2025 to dissolve their capital and business alliance in order to pursue an independent regional revitalization strategy. To expand its client offerings following the dissolution, the bank established new partnerships in 2026 to deliver corporate-type defined contribution pension plans and entered into a strategic alliance with Okasan Securities to establish dedicated Chikugin Investment Plazas at multiple locations in Fukuoka Prefecture for retail wealth management. Furthermore, the bank has expanded its specialized M&A and corporate succession capabilities to facilitate business transfers and provide long-term equity-holding support for regional businesses.
