- Gabelli Automation ETF (GAST) is an actively managed exchange-traded fund that seeks capital appreciation by investing at least 80% of its net assets in equity securities of companies involved in automation, including those that design, develop, support, or manufacture automation equipment, related technology, software, processes; firms utilizing automation to enhance productivity; and sectors such as information technology, software and services, application software, enterprise software, customer relationship management software, internet marketing automation software, marketing automation software, sales force automation software, system software, design automation, software research, artificial intelligence software, autonomous driving, cobotics, and robotics. The fund primarily targets U.S. exchange-listed common and preferred stocks of value-oriented companies across diversified market capitalizations, with holdings such as Emerson Electric Co., Rockwell Automation, Check Point Software Technologies, AZZ Inc., and Allient Inc., and benchmarks performance against the S&P 500 Index. Launched on January 5, 2022 by GAMCO Investors, Inc. and managed by Gabelli Funds, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of GAMCO, the ETF is domiciled in the United States with its principal place of business at One Corporate Center, Rye, New York. In a significant strategic shift announced on December 15, 2025, Gabelli converted GAST from a semi-transparent to a fully transparent ETF as part of offering seven fully transparent strategies; concurrently, the fund was renamed Gabelli Global Technology Leaders ETF (GGTL), expanded its mandate to emphasize global technology leaders in semiconductors, software, cybersecurity, IT and AI infrastructure with meaningful non-U.S. exposure, and appointed Hendi Susanto as portfolio manager. The ETF operates within the technology and industrials segments, targeting investors seeking growth from automation and technological innovation, with a gross expense ratio of 0.90% and distribution through major brokerage platforms including Schwab, Fidelity, Interactive Brokers, and Robinhood.
