Business
Gunnison Copper Corp. (TSX: GCU) operates as a copper development and production company focused on the Cochise Mining District in Cochise County, southeast Arizona; it acquires, explores, develops, and produces copper properties, delivering 100% Made-in-America pure copper cathode into the US domestic supply chain for energy, defense, and manufacturing sectors. The company produces copper cathode via solvent extraction-electrowinning (SX-EW) from run-of-mine oxide ore at its flagship Johnson Camp Mine (JCM), which achieved first production ahead of schedule in late August 2025 and completed inaugural sales of 225,371 pounds on September 15, 2025; it advances the nearby Gunnison Copper Project, incorporating a large open-pit of copper oxide mineralization designed for 167 million pounds of annual copper cathode production per its November 2024 preliminary economic assessment; and it holds a portfolio of exploration projects including the Strong and Harris copper-zinc-silver deposit, Peabody Sill, South Star, and eight other deposits within an 8-kilometer economic radius, potentially serving as satellite feeders. Gunnison Copper partners strategically with Nuton LLC, a Rio Tinto venture, which fully funds JCM operations and Stage II development deploying Nuton technologies to expand production, unlock sulfide ore potential, and commercialize by-products; it secured US$13.9 million in 48C tax credits in January 2025 and a March 2025 financial transaction providing $3 million in non-dilutive funding plus up to $8 million more from tax credit monetization to support debt repayment and expansion; and it raised $13.9 million in equity financing in May 2025 to advance exploration and Johnson Camp revival. Incorporated in 2005 and formerly known as Excelsior Mining Corp. until its name change in November 2024, the company employs 48 people and maintains headquarters at Concord Place, Suite 300, 2999 North 44th Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85018.
