Business
Calumet, Inc. is an independent manufacturer and distributor of specialty hydrocarbon products and renewable fuels. Founded in 1916 and headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, the company operates processing, blending, and production facilities across the United States, serving consumer, automotive, industrial, pharmaceutical, aerospace, and energy markets worldwide. The company conducts its operations across three primary business segments: Specialty Products and Solutions, Performance Brands, and Montana Renewables. Its comprehensive product portfolio includes naphthenic and paraffinic base oils; technical and USP-grade white mineral oils; pharmaceutical-grade petrolatums and specialty hydrocarbon gels; aliphatic and aromatic solvents; electrical insulating transformer oils; refrigeration lubricants; paraffin and microcrystalline waxes; synthetic base stocks and natural esters; and customized paving asphalt products. Through its Performance Brands segment, the company develops and markets consumer and industrial products, including Royal Purple synthetic automotive lubricants and chemical additives; Bel-Ray high-performance industrial, mining, and powersports lubricants; and TruFuel precision-engineered pre-mixed small engine fuel. Through its Montana Renewables subsidiary operating in Great Falls, Montana, the company manufactures drop-in renewable fuels, including sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), renewable diesel, renewable hydrogen, and renewable naphtha derived from renewable fats, oils, and greases. In recent corporate developments, Calumet completed a major corporate reorganization in July 2024, converting from a master limited partnership, Calumet Specialty Products Partners, L.P., into a C-Corporation named Calumet, Inc. Additionally, the company expanded its renewable fuels footprint via its Montana Renewables subsidiary, securing strategic private equity investment from Warburg Pincus and advancing its multi-phase MaxSAF expansion project supported by a conditional loan commitment from the U.S. Department of Energy to scale up sustainable aviation fuel output.
