Founded in 1993 and headquartered in Winsford, Cheshire, the group operates manufacturing and R&D facilities in 14 locations employing over 1,500 people, with primary revenue from its Surgical and Woundcare segments led by branded surgical products. In 2024, AMS completed the acquisitions of Syntacoll on March 1, enhancing its collagen-based absorbable surgical implants, and Peters Surgical on July 1 for up to EUR141.4 million following regulatory approval, significantly expanding its specialty sutures, mechanical haemostasis, internal cyanoacrylate devices and European market presence; these follow six prior acquisitions since 2019 including Sealantis, Biomatlante, Raleigh, AFS Medical and Connexicon, alongside the US launch of Liquifix atraumatic fixation devices and strategic Woundcare margin improvement initiatives.
