Business
Dillard's, Inc. is an American department store retailer and commercial general contracting company that offers a broad selection of fashion apparel, beauty products, accessories, and home goods. The company operates through two main business segments: Retail Operations and Construction. The Retail Operations segment retails brand-name and private-label merchandise across multiple categories, including women's apparel, casual wear, dresses, and intimate apparel; men's tailored clothing, sportswear, and furnishings; cosmetics, skincare, and fragrances; footwear for women, men, and children; children's and juniors' apparel and accessories; and home merchandise, including bedding, bath linens, housewares, and home furnishings. Its proprietary private-label and exclusive brand portfolio features lines such as Antonio Melani, Gianni Bini, Roundtree & Yorke, Daniel Cremieux, GB, Chelsea & Violet, and Investments. The Construction segment operates through the company's wholly owned subsidiary, CDI Contractors, LLC, which provides general contracting, pre-construction management, interior fit-outs, and remodeling services for Dillard's retail store locations as well as for third-party commercial, institutional, and hospitality clients. The company serves consumers across 30 U.S. states through a network of approximately 272 retail locations, consisting of full-line department stores and clearance centers situated predominantly in suburban shopping malls and open-air lifestyle centers in the Southeast, Southwest, and Midwest regions. In addition to physical brick-and-mortar stores, Dillard's operates an online retail channel via dillards.com and proprietary mobile shopping applications. Dillard's, Inc. was founded in 1938 by William T. Dillard and is headquartered in Little Rock, Arkansas. In recent developments, Dillard's has expanded its proprietary merchandising strategy by launching high-profile designer and influencer capsule collections across its core private brands, including exclusive limited-edition collaborations within the Antonio Melani and Gianni Bini labels. The company has deepened strategic wholesale and retail partnerships, introducing curated specialty concepts such as The Coterie Shop and bringing special-occasion apparel collections into select physical stores in collaboration with digital-native brands like Lulus. Operationally, Dillard's has focused on optimizing its physical store fleet through selective store modernizations and clearance conversions, enhancing omnichannel fulfillment workflows, and executing corporate structure updates, including reincorporating from Delaware to Texas and transitioning its stock exchange listing.
