Business
Gurit Holding AG is a Swiss-based supplier of advanced composite materials and technologies for industries including wind energy, transportation, marine and construction. The company develops, manufactures and distributes core materials such as PET, PVC and balsa wood foams; prepregs and semi-finished products including Gurit® Corecell®, Gurit® G-PET® and Gurit® Balsaflex®; as well as adhesives, tooling materials, processing equipment and engineering services like patternmaking, prototyping and serial production support. Gurit serves wind turbine blade manufacturers, boatbuilders, rail and automotive OEMs and construction firms with customized composite solutions that enhance lightweighting, strength and durability. Founded in 1820 and headquartered in Wattwil, Switzerland, Gurit operates globally with production sites and sales offices in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, targeting high-performance applications in renewable energy and sustainable mobility sectors. The company maintains subsidiaries focused on specific technologies, such as Gurit (UK) Ltd for marine composites and Gurit (USA) Inc for North American wind markets, while emphasizing innovation in recyclable materials and digital manufacturing processes. In recent developments, Gurit completed the divestiture of its non-core Automotive and Industrial divisions in 2023 to streamline operations and sharpen focus on wind energy and high-growth composites; launched new sustainable prepreg systems compatible with thermoplastic resins in 2024; and formed a strategic partnership with Vestas Wind Systems A/S to co-develop next-generation recyclable blade materials amid expanding global wind capacity. These changes position Gurit for accelerated growth in the offshore wind market and support its transition toward fully circular composite solutions by 2030.
