- Federated Hermes Government Obligations Fund (GOFXX), Premier Shares (GOFXX), a portfolio of Federated Hermes Money Market Obligations Trust, operates as a government money market mutual fund seeking current income consistent with stability of principal. The Fund invests at least 99.5% of its total assets in cash; U.S. Treasury and government securities maturing in 397 days or less; and repurchase agreements fully collateralized by such U.S. Treasury and government securities, including zero-coupon securities and government mortgage-backed securities issued or guaranteed by U.S. government agencies or instrumentalities such as the Government National Mortgage Association; it may also hold cash and engage in delayed delivery transactions or inter-fund lending. The Fund offers multiple share classes, including Premier (GOFXX), Institutional (GOIXX), Service (GOSXX), Advisor (GOVXX), Capital (GOCXX), Administrative (GOEXX), Trust (GORXX), Select (GRTXX), Cash II (GFYXX), Cash Series (GFSXX), and SDG (GPHXX), targeting institutional investors, financial intermediaries, and other qualified purchasers seeking high-quality, short-term liquidity with minimal credit risk.
Established within Federated Hermes Money Market Obligations Trust, originally organized under Massachusetts law on October 3, 1988, the Fund is managed by Federated Investment Management Company, a subsidiary of Federated Hermes, Inc., with headquarters at 4000 Ericsson Drive, Warrendale, PA 15086. The Fund complies with Rule 2a-7 under the Investment Company Act of 1940 as a government money market fund exempt from liquidity fees or redemption gates, maintaining a stable $1.00 net asset value using amortized cost valuation; it holds top credit ratings including AAAm from S&P Global Ratings, Aaa-mf from Moody’s, and AAAmmf from Fitch.
In June 2020, the Trust rebranded from Money Market Obligations Trust to Federated Hermes Money Market Obligations Trust, with the Fund renaming from Federated Government Obligations Fund to Federated Hermes Government Obligations Fund; on August 1, 2019, the Fund’s Class R Shares were redesignated as Select Shares (GRTXX). The Fund has adapted to SEC money market reforms fully effective October 2024, implementing required policy, procedure, and operational changes for compliance, including support for mandatory redemption fees on certain non-government money funds, while Federated Hermes advocates for repeal of such fees and restoration of amortized cost valuation for institutional prime funds. As of late 2024, the Fund managed approximately $177.6-$178.5 billion in assets amid record growth in Federated Hermes' money market offerings to $461.7 billion, driven by higher short-term interest rates and institutional demand for liquidity. No recent acquisitions, funding rounds, or new product launches specific to the Fund were reported in 2024-2025; operations remain focused on U.S. markets with nationwide distribution through Federated Securities Corp.
