GS Connect S&P GSCI Enhanced Commodity Total Return Strategy Index ETN (GSCE) is an exchange-traded note (ETN) issued by GS Finance Corp., with The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. serving as guarantor, that provides exposure to the performance of the S&P GSCI Enhanced Commodity Total Return Strategy Index. The underlying index tracks commodity markets through futures contracts on physical commodities, including energy, livestock, agriculture, precious metals, and industrial metals; it measures total returns on a fully collateralized, unleveraged, long-only basis with full reinvestment. Originally formed on May 3, 2007 and domiciled in the United States, the ETN is listed on NYSE Arca with a maturity date of May 8, 2037, and targets investors seeking diversified commodity strategies. Goldman Sachs, headquartered in New York, New York and founded in 1869, operates globally across investment banking, securities, asset management, and consumer banking segments, serving institutional, corporate, and high-net-worth clients in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and other regions. As part of its structured products offerings, GSCE falls under Goldman Sachs' suite of exchange-traded notes designed for commodity index replication without direct futures ownership. In recent years, Goldman Sachs discontinued further issuances of the GSCE ETN effective June 9, 2015, due to low trading activity, and announced intentions in 2020 to delist it alongside a related ETN, with trading ceasing by August 31, 2020; however, limited over-the-counter trading persists. The firm has pursued broader strategic expansions, including the 2022 acquisition of NN Investment Partners to enhance European asset management capabilities in equities, credit, and ESG products; a 2025 strategic alliance with T. Rowe Price focused on retirement and wealth channels with private market access; and an agreement to acquire Innovator Capital Management in late 2025 to bolster defined-outcome investment solutions. These moves reflect Goldman Sachs' ongoing diversification in asset and wealth management amid evolving market demands.
