- Goldman Sachs ActiveBeta World Equity ETF (GSWO) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks to track the performance, before fees and expenses, of the Goldman Sachs ActiveBeta World Equity Index, providing exposure to large- and mid-capitalization equity securities of developed market issuers, including the United States. The fund employs the patented ActiveBeta Portfolio Construction Methodology, which selects and weights securities based on four key factors associated with long-term outperformance: value (attractive pricing relative to fundamentals such as book value and free cash flow), momentum (recent share price trends), quality (profitability metrics), and low volatility (reduced price swings); it invests at least 80% of its assets in index securities, depositary receipts representing such securities, or underlying stocks. The underlying index starts with a market capitalization-weighted universe, creates a low volatility core, scores stocks on the other three factors to build risk-aware factor portfolios, combines them equally, and rebalances quarterly using a turnover-minimizing technique.
Launched on March 15, 2022, and issued by Goldman Sachs Funds (a series of Goldman Sachs Trust), the ETF was headquartered in New York, New York, under the investment management of Goldman Sachs Asset Management, L.P. In a major reorganization effective after the close of business on February 4, 2026, the fund changed its name from Goldman Sachs ActiveBeta World Low Vol Plus Equity ETF (previously ticker GLOV), adopted the new ticker GSWO on Cboe BZX, reduced its unitary management fee to 15 basis points from a prior higher rate, shifted to the new underlying Goldman Sachs ActiveBeta World Equity Index, and updated its investment objective and principal strategy to emphasize broader factor exposure beyond a low volatility core.
GSWO operates globally, targeting institutional and individual investors seeking factor-based equity strategies; as of early 2026, it held approximately 788 securities (recently adjusted to around 445), with top holdings including NVIDIA Corp. (approx. 2.7-5.5%), Apple Inc. (3.8-4.8%), Microsoft Corp. (2.4-3.6%), and diversified across sectors in developed markets such as the U.S., Europe, and others, maintaining assets under management of about $1.58 billion, a net expense ratio of 0.15%, and a dividend yield around 1.7%. The fund provides a passive, rules-based approach to multi-factor investing without employing derivatives for alpha generation, focusing instead on systematic risk reduction and potential outperformance relative to market-cap weighted benchmarks.
