Business
Global X PureCap MSCI Energy ETF is a passively managed exchange-traded fund launched on July 22, 2025, and sponsored by Global X Management Company LLC, a New York, New York-based ETF provider. Listed on NYSE Arca under the ticker GXPE, the fund seeks investment results that generally correspond, before fees and expenses, to the price and yield performance of the MSCI USA Energy Index. The fund provides single-trade, U.S.-focused equity exposure to companies classified in the GICS Energy sector, including integrated oil and gas producers; exploration and production companies; oil refining and marketing companies; oil, gas and consumable-fuels businesses; midstream and pipeline operators; liquefied natural gas companies; and energy-equipment and services providers. GXPE employs representative sampling and may invest in a subset of index securities, other ETFs, and securities with characteristics similar to index constituents. Its portfolio is weighted by free-float market capitalization and, subject to regulated investment company diversification requirements, follows an uncapped index methodology that can result in meaningful allocations to the sector’s largest issuers. Major holdings have included Exxon Mobil, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Marathon Petroleum, Valero Energy, Williams Companies, SLB, EOG Resources and Baker Hughes. GXPE’s principal market is the United States, and its assets consist predominantly of U.S.-listed energy equities, with cash-management investments such as U.S. Treasury obligations used as appropriate. The fund’s most significant recent corporate development is its 2025 launch as part of Global X’s PureCap MSCI ETF lineup, expanding the sponsor’s sector ETF offering with a dedicated, uncapped U.S. energy-sector vehicle designed to provide transparent exposure to the true market-capitalization composition of the Energy sector.
