Business
Amplify Cybersecurity ETF (HACK) is an exchange-traded fund that seeks investment results corresponding to the price and yield performance, before fees and expenses, of the Nasdaq ISE Cyber Security Select Index. The fund invests at least 80% of its net assets in equity securities of companies actively involved in offering cybersecurity technology and services, including hardware, software, and related solutions; it employs a full replication technique to track the index, which is weighted by adjusted market capitalization and rebalanced quarterly. Top holdings typically include companies such as Broadcom Inc., Cisco Systems Inc., CrowdStrike Holdings Inc., Palo Alto Networks Inc., and Cloudflare Inc., with primary exposure to U.S. stocks (over 90%) and secondary allocations to international firms in regions including Israel and Japan. Launched on November 11, 2014, as the first-to-market cybersecurity ETF, HACK is issued by Amplify ETF Trust and sponsored by Amplify Investments LLC, headquartered in Lisle, Illinois; the investment adviser is Amplify Investments LLC, with Penserra Capital Management LLC acting as sub-adviser, and Foreside Fund Services, LLC serving as distributor. In recent developments, Amplify ETFs, the sponsor, completed the acquisition of nearly $4 billion in assets from ETF Managers Group (ETFMG) in early 2024, incorporating HACK and expanding its lineup to 31 ETFs with over $9 billion in total AUM at the time; this included rebranding and shifting the index provider for HACK back to Nasdaq from Prime. The firm surpassed $14 billion in overall AUM by September 2025, driven by growth in thematic ETFs like HACK (now over $2.3 billion AUM), YieldSmart covered call strategies, and others such as BLOK and SILJ; in October 2025, Amplify spotlighted HACK during Cybersecurity Awareness Month via marketing campaigns highlighting the sector's projected growth to over $1 trillion by 2031.
