Business
Global New Material International Holdings Limited engages in the research, development, production, and sales of surface performance materials and high-performance functional materials. The company’s core product portfolio includes pearlescent pigments and functional mica fillers, offered under multiple categories such as natural mica-based, synthetic mica-based, glass flake-based, silicon oxide-based, and aluminum oxide-based pearlescent pigment products. It manufactures synthetic mica powder in various granule sizes, which serve as raw materials for the production of functional fillers, insulating materials, refractory materials, and nickel-hydrogen batteries. Its products cater to diverse industries including automotive finishes, cosmetics, coatings, plastics, printing, ceramics, aerospace, military, ship anti-corrosion, leather, building materials, 3D printing, anti-counterfeiting, seed coating, and food industries. The company operates primarily in the People's Republic of China and South Korea, with expanded global footprint through recent strategic developments. Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Liuzhou, China, Global New Material International is designated by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to lead research in artificial synthetic mica. In July 2025, the company completed a transformative €665 million acquisition of Merck KGaA’s global Surface Solutions business, which includes operations in Germany, Japan, and the United States and now operates under the "Susonity" brand. This acquisition significantly broadens Global New Material International's product portfolio and geographic reach, reinforcing its market position from a leading pigment manufacturer to a comprehensive surface performance solutions provider with enhanced international presence and sales channels. The acquisition also introduces advanced technologies and production capabilities, supporting a customer-centric market approach and enabling growth synergies and operational efficiencies across the combined entities. The strategic move marks the largest cross-border transaction in China’s pearlescent materials sector, positioning the company at the forefront of the global surface performance materials industry. This expansion complements its established brand Chesir and deep expertise in synthetic mica, pearlescent materials, and new energy materials, with production capacities mainly in China and Korea and a workforce of approximately 800 employees worldwide. Global New Material International Holdings Limited continues to innovate within specialty chemical segments, developing industrial grade, weather resistance grade, and cosmetic grade materials across multiple series such as highlight, chameleon, velvet, jade, 3D magnetic conductive, China red, diamond, weather resistant, powder coating, and cosmetic grades. It serves multinational customers worldwide by supplying cutting-edge materials to sectors including automotive, electronics, personal care, and pharmaceuticals. The company has also been active in redeeming convertible bonds and expanding investment institution engagement as part of its strategic financial management. This comprehensive approach solidifies Global New Material International Holdings Limited's standing as an advanced technology platform in new materials, driven by innovation and a full-scale product ecosystem that spans core synthetic mica and pearlescent products to new surface and energy materials globally.
