Business
Hanoi Reinsurance Joint Stock Corporation (HNX: PRE) is a Vietnam-based reinsurance provider engaged in offering non-life and specialty reinsurance underwriting, risk transfer solutions, and technical advisory services. Established in 2011 and headquartered in Hanoi, Vietnam, the company operates as a key subsidiary of PVI Holdings, with strategic backing from Germany-based HDI Global SE (part of the Talanx Group) and the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam). Hanoi Re provides reinsurance capacity and risk solutions to primary insurers, international cedants, and commercial enterprises across Vietnam, Southeast Asia, the broader Asia-Pacific region, and selected international markets. The company provides a wide range of proportional and non-proportional reinsurance treaties, facultative reinsurance capacity, and risk management advisory solutions, organized across multiple core business lines: property and engineering reinsurance, including commercial property, industrial all risks, business interruption, machinery breakdown, civil engineering completed risks, and construction and erection all risks; energy reinsurance, covering upstream and downstream oil and gas assets, offshore drilling units, petrochemical infrastructure, power generation plants, and renewable energy installations; marine and aviation reinsurance, including marine hull and machinery, protection and indemnity, cargo in transit, port and logistics liabilities, and aviation hull and liability; casualty and financial lines reinsurance, encompassing public liability, product liability, employer liability, professional indemnity, directors and officers liability, and cyber risk; motor and personal lines reinsurance, comprising motor vehicle physical damage, compulsory third-party liability, personal accident, and supplemental healthcare covers; and specialty reinsurance, covering trade credit, surety, political violence, and natural catastrophe protections. Additionally, Hanoi Re provides technical consulting services, including risk engineering surveys, loss prevention assessments, portfolio optimization, catastrophe modeling, and complex claims management. In recent corporate developments, the company executed a comprehensive corporate restructuring and brand transformation, officially changing its name from PVI Reinsurance Joint Stock Corporation (PVI Re) to Hanoi Reinsurance Joint Stock Corporation (Hanoi Re) to reflect its long-term strategy of expanding its presence across regional and global reinsurance markets. Supporting this expansion, the company has completed capital enhancement initiatives, broadened its inward reinsurance operations across regional hubs in Asia and the Middle East, and secured affirmed financial strength ratings with a Stable outlook from international credit rating agency AM Best. To bolster operational efficiency and international compliance, Hanoi Re has also modernized its enterprise risk management framework, advanced its adoption of IFRS 17 reporting standards, and strengthened underwriting partnerships with its parent affiliate HDI Global SE and regional market brokers to scale capacities in infrastructure, green transition, and specialized catastrophe risks.
