- Materials-Petroleum Joint Stock Company, commonly known as COMECO, is a Vietnam-based petroleum distribution and energy retail company primarily engaged in the marketing, wholesale, and retail distribution of petroleum products, lubricants, and related automotive and transportation services. Established in 1975 and headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, the company is publicly listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange under the ticker COM, operating with major strategic shareholding from PetroVietnam Oil Corporation and Saigon Petro.
The company conducts its operations across several key commercial divisions, delivering an integrated portfolio of products and services: retail and wholesale distribution of liquid petroleum fuels, including unleaded motor gasoline (RON 95 and E5 RON 92), automotive diesel oil (DO 0.05S and DO 0.001S), kerosene, and heavy fuel oils; trading and supply of automotive and industrial lubricants, engine oils, gear oils, and specialized greases; automotive care and retail support services, including vehicle washing, mechanical maintenance and repair, tire servicing, and commercial vehicle parking facilities; logistics and bulk fuel transportation services, operating a dedicated fleet of specialized tanker trucks for liquid petroleum transport; engineering, procurement, and construction services specializing in the design, installation, and renovation of retail service stations and petroleum storage facilities; trading and distribution of specialized petroleum equipment, including fuel dispensing units, underground tank containment systems, and liquid flow measurement devices; and commercial property leasing, including the management and rental of office buildings and commercial spaces.
COMECO operates primarily across southern Vietnam, maintaining a retail network of nearly 40 petrol service stations and operational branches situated throughout Ho Chi Minh City and the adjacent economic provinces of Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Long An, and Lam Dong. The company supports its retail and commercial wholesale supply chain through extensive storage depots and logistics facilities covering over 260,000 square meters.
In recent developments, COMECO has undertaken strategic business adaptations to align with energy transition dynamics and regulatory modernization in Vietnam. The company formed a strategic partnership with V-Green to deploy electric vehicle charging station infrastructure across its retail station network, completing the rollout of multi-point electric vehicle charging stations across strategic locations. Furthermore, COMECO modernized its retail operations by implementing automated real-time electronic invoice issuing systems integrated across its fuel dispensers, enhancing digital inventory monitoring, optimizing station retail layouts, and restructuring operational governance to strengthen supply efficiency and retail service quality.
