- South Basic Chemicals Joint Stock Company is a Vietnam-based chemical manufacturing enterprise that specializes in the production, processing, and commercial distribution of basic inorganic chemicals, water treatment agents, and industrial chemical compounds. The company operates as a core subsidiary of the state-owned Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem) and supplies raw materials to a wide spectrum of industrial sectors across Vietnam and export markets in Southeast Asia, including municipal water treatment, pulp and paper, metallurgy, textile processing, detergent manufacturing, food and beverage processing, energy generation, and electronics manufacturing.
The company organizes its product offerings across several primary business lines: Chlor-Alkali and Chlorine Derivatives, comprising liquid caustic soda (sodium hydroxide), liquid chlorine, sodium hypochlorite (Javel water), and calcium hypochlorite; Industrial Acids, including hydrochloric acid, technical- and food-grade phosphoric acid, and sulfuric acid; Water Treatment Chemicals and Coagulants, comprising aluminum sulfate (alum), polyaluminum chloride (PAC), and ferric chloride; and Specialty Inorganic Salts and Industrial Chemicals, featuring sodium silicate (water glass), potassium hydroxide, magnesium sulfate, sodium bisulfite, ammonium hydroxide solution, phosphate compounds, and food additives. In addition to chemical synthesis, the company engages in mineral extraction through a bauxite mining operation located in Bao Loc, Lam Dong Province.
In recent strategic developments, South Basic Chemicals initiated a comprehensive manufacturing modernization and consolidation program. In September 2025, the company broke ground on the Nhon Trach Chemical Plant Project in the Nhon Trach 6 Industrial Park, Dong Nai Province. This project facilitates the strategic relocation and integration of the company's legacy production facilities from the Bien Hoa 1 Industrial Park into a centralized, advanced manufacturing complex. The new facility is engineered to expand annual output capacity to 100,000 metric tons of caustic soda and 100,000 metric tons of sulfuric acid, while establishing production lines for high-purity, chlorine-based specialty chemicals engineered for the semiconductor, electronics, and green energy industries. To support its operational expansion and strategic capital expenditure programs, the company executed a corporate capital restructuring in 2024 through a 150 percent bonus share distribution, expanding its charter capital from VND 442 billion to over VND 1.1 trillion.
South Basic Chemicals Joint Stock Company was established in 1976 and is headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
