Business
Gemadept Corporation is a Vietnam-based maritime infrastructure and supply chain solutions enterprise primarily engaged in integrated port operations and end-to-end logistics services. Founded in 1990 and headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, the company operates an extensive seaport, river port, and logistics ecosystem serving domestic and multinational shipping lines, freight forwarders, manufacturers, and cargo owners across Vietnam and Southeast Asia. The company conducts its business through two principal operating segments: Port Operations and Logistics. In its Port Operations segment, Gemadept Corporation develops, manages, and operates container terminals, breakbulk facilities, inland container depots, and river port systems situated along key economic corridors in Northern, Central, and Southern Vietnam. Its core port operations and maritime services include: deep-sea container terminal stevedoring and vessel handling at Gemalink International Port in the Cai Mep-Thi Vai port complex; river container terminal handling and depot operations at Nam Dinh Vu Port and Nam Hai Port in Hai Phong; general cargo, breakbulk, and industrial project cargo handling at Dung Quat Port in Quang Ngai; dry port and container depot management at Phuoc Long ICD and Binh Duong Port; container freight station cargo consolidation and deconsolidation; customs bonded yard management; empty container storage, maintenance, and structural repair; reefer container pre-trip inspection, monitoring, and electrical plug-in services; and marine vessel support services, including harbor towing, barging, pilotage assistance, and mooring. In its Logistics segment, Gemadept Corporation delivers third-party logistics and multimodal supply chain management solutions spanning domestic and cross-border transport. Its logistics services include: contract logistics and supply chain optimization; distribution center and warehousing operations encompassing ambient storage, bonded warehousing, dangerous goods storage, and temperature-controlled cold chain storage via Mekong Logistics; air cargo terminal handling, ramp operations, and airfreight warehousing through Saigon Cargo Service Corporation; inland waterway barging services connecting Southern industrial hubs, Cai Mep deep-sea terminals, the Mekong Delta, and Phnom Penh, Cambodia; domestic and cross-border overland trucking and container haulage across Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia; international ocean and air freight forwarding; project logistics for oversized and heavy-lift industrial machinery; and customs clearance, cargo documentation, and trade compliance advisory. In recent developments, Gemadept Corporation has executed major strategic initiatives to optimize its capital structure and expand its core maritime infrastructure. The company completed the strategic divestment of its stake in the Nam Hai Dinh Vu port terminal to reallocate capital toward higher-capacity gateway assets. The company successfully commissioned Phase 2 of the Nam Dinh Vu Port cluster in Northern Vietnam, substantially increasing container handling capacity in the Hai Phong gateway, while advancing preparations for Phase 3 development. In Southern Vietnam, Gemadept is progressing with the Phase 2 expansion of Gemalink International Port in partnership with CMA CGM to increase total handling capacity to three million TEUs annually and accommodate ultra-large container vessels. Additionally, the company continues to expand its digital and sustainable infrastructure through the deployment of its SmartPort and SmartLogistics ecosystems, the adoption of electrified terminal equipment, and the implementation of industrial rooftop solar systems across its port and warehousing facilities.
