Business
VNsteel-Ho Chi Minh City Metal Corp. (VNSTEEL - Ho Chi Minh City Metal Corporation) is a Vietnam-based company primarily engaged in the distribution, wholesale trading, processing, and warehousing of ferrous and non-ferrous metal products and construction materials. The Company operates primarily across two main business segments: Steel and Construction Materials Trading, and Office and Warehouse Rental Operations. The Company provides a comprehensive portfolio of metal and building products, which includes construction steel, comprising deformed rebar, plain round bars, wire rods, and structural shapes such as V-angles, U-channels, and I-beams; flat steel products, comprising hot-rolled steel coils, cold-rolled steel coils, heavy and medium steel plates, prime and secondary steel sheets, and checkered plates; pipe and tube products, comprising galvanized steel pipes, black welded pipes, square tubes, and rectangular hollow sections; coated and sheet steel products, comprising galvanized iron (GI), aluminum-zinc alloy-coated steel (galvalume), and prepainted galvanized iron (PPGI) roofing sheets; non-ferrous metals and specialty alloy metals; scrap steel and steel billets; and cement and auxiliary construction supplies. In addition to trading operations, the Company delivers industrial metal processing and service center solutions, comprising steel coil decoiling, leveling, slitting, cutting-to-length, and custom shearing; freight transportation and cargo handling services; and commercial property leasing, comprising the rental of industrial warehouses, open storage yards, and commercial office space. Headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, the Company operates an integrated commercial and logistical network serving Southern and Central Vietnam, maintaining multiple regional branches, distribution depots, steel processing centers, and warehouse facilities located across Ho Chi Minh City, the Southeast economic zone, and the Mekong Delta. It caters to a diversified client base consisting of civil and commercial construction contractors, infrastructure developers, industrial and mechanical fabricators, and regional building material retailers. The Company is a key commercial subsidiary of the state-backed Vietnam Steel Corporation (VNSTEEL) and has traded on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE) under the ticker symbol HMC since December 2006. It traces its history to 1975 with the founding of the Southern Technical Materials Supply Management Organization and was formally converted into a joint-stock corporation in 2005. In recent operational developments, the Company completed a senior leadership transition with the appointment of Pham Cong Thao as Chairman of the Board of Directors in April 2025, succeeding Vo Tri Nghia to lead corporate strategy through evolving domestic and international trade dynamics. Strategically, the Company has shifted operational focus toward deepening its domestic market penetration to mitigate risks associated with international tariff barriers and global export volatility, aligning its distribution capacity with major national public infrastructure projects, including the Long Thanh International Airport and North-South Expressway developments. Concurrently, the Company has strengthened supply chain integration within the wider VNSTEEL distribution ecosystem, streamlined procurement partnerships with domestic blast-furnace and electric-arc-furnace steelmakers, modernized warehouse and yard management operations, and upgraded coil processing capabilities at its regional service centers to meet demand from the recovering construction and industrial real estate sectors.
