Business
Vietnam Construction & Import-Export Joint Stock Corporation (Vinaconex) is a Vietnam-based multi-sector enterprise primarily engaged in construction contracting, real estate development, construction materials manufacturing, and financial investment. Founded in 1988 and headquartered in Hanoi, Vietnam, the corporation operates through an extensive network of subsidiaries, joint ventures, and affiliated companies serving government authorities, corporate clients, and individual property buyers across Vietnam and select international markets. Vinaconex organizes its operations into five core business segments: Construction and Engineering; Real Estate Development; Industrial Production and Building Materials; Consultancy and Project Management; and Ancillary Services and Strategic Investments. In its Construction and Engineering division, the corporation functions as a general engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor executing civil and industrial projects, such as commercial centers, office towers, residential high-rises, hospitals, and educational facilities; transportation infrastructure, including expressways, highway interchanges, bridges, tunnels, seaports, and international airport terminals; and industrial and energy infrastructure, comprising hydroelectric power plants, thermal power stations, electrical substations, clean water supply systems, and municipal wastewater treatment networks. Through its Real Estate Development segment, Vinaconex invests in, develops, and manages integrated urban township zones, premium residential housing, commercial office buildings, hospitality and tourism complexes, and specialized industrial park infrastructure. In Industrial Production and Building Materials, the corporation manufactures, processes, and distributes cement, ready-mixed and pre-cast concrete, quarry stone, crushed sand, structural steel, architectural glass, plastic door systems, and interior fit-out materials. Its Consultancy segment provides master urban planning, architectural design, structural engineering, bidding consultancy, and technical project supervision services. Additionally, Vinaconex manages utility operations including clean water production and transmission, operates vocational and general educational institutions, and provides international labor export and workforce placement services. In recent developments, Vinaconex has advanced strategic business expansion and capital recycling initiatives to consolidate its position across national infrastructure and industrial real estate. The corporation secured and mobilized construction packages on key national strategic infrastructure projects, including Long Thanh International Airport Phase 1, Hanoi Ring Road 4, the North-South Expressway, and the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh Expressway expansion. To expand its industrial asset base and commercial footprint, Vinaconex accelerated the development and leasing of the 300-hectare Dong Anh Industrial Park and expanded facilities in the Hoa Lac High-Tech Park, while launching prime mixed-use developments such as the Capital One complex in southern Hanoi. Strategically enhancing its utility infrastructure capabilities and land holdings, the corporation initiated the acquisition of a controlling 98% stake in Vietnam Water and Environment Investment Corporation (Viwaseen). Furthermore, Vinaconex has continued portfolio optimization by divesting from non-core subsidiaries to recycle capital into high-yield construction and energy projects, alongside establishing strategic bidding and execution partnerships with international contractors from South Korea, China, Japan, and Taiwan to expand its market share in foreign direct investment (FDI) industrial and infrastructure developments.
