iShares International High Yield Bond ETF (HYXU) is an exchange-traded fund managed by BlackRock that seeks to track the Markit iBoxx Global Developed Markets ex-US High Yield Index by investing primarily in euro, British pound sterling, and Canadian dollar-denominated high yield corporate bonds issued by companies in developed markets outside the United States. The fund holds a diversified portfolio of non-investment grade bonds with maturities generally ranging from one to 15 years, including top holdings such as Teva Pharmaceutical Finance Netherlands II BV, EDP SA, Forvia SE, Fibercop SPA, Softbank Group Corp, Bayer AG, Iliad SA, Schaeffler AG, Vodafone Group PLC, and ZF Europe Finance BV; it features an expense ratio of 0.40% and provides exposure to sectors like telecommunications, utilities, automotive, pharmaceuticals, and consumer services. Launched on April 3, 2012, the ETF operates globally with a focus on Europe, the United Kingdom, and Canada, distributing income through regular dividends while maintaining a passive investment strategy. In a significant strategic shift approved by the Board of Directors, HYXU is scheduled to undergo a name change and benchmark adjustment effective on or around October 31, 2025, transitioning to the iShares Euro High Yield Corporate Bond USD Hedged ETF while retaining the HYXU ticker; this reorganization narrows its focus to euro-denominated high yield corporate bonds with USD hedging to mitigate currency risk. The change reflects BlackRock's ongoing efforts to refine its iShares ETF lineup amid robust fixed income demand, as evidenced by the broader iShares platform surpassing USD 5 trillion in assets under management with record net inflows in 2025. No major acquisitions, partnerships, or new product launches specific to HYXU have been reported in the last 1-2 years beyond this restructuring, though BlackRock continues expanding its ETF offerings in bonds and related areas.
