- International Battery Metals Ltd. develops and commercializes proprietary modular direct lithium extraction (MDLE) technology for recovering lithium from brine resources for battery-material applications. The Company’s offerings comprise containerized and transportable MDLE plants; proprietary lithium-selective extraction media and column systems; brine characterization, testing and process-validation services; engineering, integration, deployment and operating support for lithium-brine projects; and technology licensing or plant-delivery opportunities for brine-resource owners and lithium producers. Its modular process is designed to produce lithium chloride eluate that can be further processed into high-purity lithium carbonate, while targeting reduced land use, water consumption, development time and capital requirements compared with conventional evaporation-pond lithium production. IBAT serves owners and operators of lithium-bearing brine resources, including oilfield, geothermal, salar and industrial-brine projects, with activities and customer-testing exposure in the United States, Argentina and the Middle East. The Company was incorporated in 2010 in British Columbia, Canada, changed its name from Rheingold Exploration Corp. to International Battery Metals Ltd. in 2017, and maintains its registered office in Vancouver, British Columbia, with principal executive operations in Houston, Texas. IBAT’s first commercial-scale MDLE plant was deployed at US Magnesium LLC’s Salt Lake City, Utah facility in 2024, where the demonstration produced approximately 25 metric tons of battery-grade lithium carbonate; the plant was subsequently idled after US Magnesium cited lithium-market pricing and profitability conditions, decommissioned and moved to storage, and is being marketed for redeployment and customization to a new brine customer. Recent developments include brine-testing work involving samples from Texas, Arkansas, the Middle East and Argentina; an 18-month exclusive collaboration agreement entered in September 2025 with a major Middle East energy-services provider to jointly pursue regional DLE proposals and tenders; follow-on non-brokered private-placement funding from EV Metals VII, LLC, including a USD 2.8 million investment announced in April 2026 under a prior letter of intent for up to USD 15.0 million; and the April 2026 appointment of Garrett Galloway, Senior Vice President of Corporate Development, as an executive officer. As of 2026, IBAT remains a development-stage DLE technology provider that derives limited revenue principally from brine-testing services and has not yet completed a commercial sale or license of an MDLE plant.
