Founded in 1916 through the merger of Dutch companies NV WA Hoek Machine en Zuurstof and NV Javasche Koelzoor, which became Aneka Gas Industri in 1971 before rebranding to PT Samator Indo Gas Tbk, the company operates 58 production plants and 103 filling stations across 29 provinces in Indonesia from its headquarters at Gedung UGM Samator Pendidikan, Tower A, 5th and 6th Floors, Jl. Dr. Saharjo No. 83, Tebet, Jakarta Selatan. PT Samator Indo Gas Tbk serves diverse sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, consumer goods, metallurgy, chemicals, petrochemicals, electronics, agriculture, food and beverages, infrastructure, mining, oil and gas, automotive and construction, positioning it as a key supplier nationwide. Recent developments include the 2023 investment from CVC Asia V Fund, acquiring a minority stake to support expansion such as the new plant in Kawasan Industri Terpadu Batang (KITB), Central Java; the launch of its 56th plant in Batang with capacity for 7,000 tons each of liquid oxygen and nitrogen plus 280 tons of liquid argon; commencement of operations at the 57th facility in Batam, Indonesia's first green hydrogen plant using electrolysis technology in October 2024; and ongoing construction of the 58th plant for acetylene production in Sofifi, slated for completion by end-2024, alongside plans for additional filling stations. These expansions enhance supply capabilities for healthcare, infrastructure and sustainable energy sectors amid steady sales growth to Rp2.13 trillion for January-September 2024, despite profit pressures from rising costs.
