Business
PT Asuransi Tugu Pratama Indonesia Tbk PT Asuransi Tugu Pratama Indonesia Tbk is a general insurance company providing a comprehensive range of insurance products and services including corporate insurance covering energy such as offshore and onshore property, well control, marine hull and machinery; fire and property risks for assets, buildings and contents; marine cargo and hull; aviation and satellite launches; engineering for construction delays and equipment breakdowns; credit and surety bonds; health; liability; and miscellaneous lines; as well as retail insurance protecting homes, motor vehicles, personal accidents, travel, cyber risks and sharia-compliant options managed on Islamic principles; alongside reinsurance and rental-related businesses, primarily serving corporate clients in the energy sector, individuals and sharia markets throughout Indonesia. Established on November 25, 1981 and headquartered at Wisma Tugu I in Jakarta, the company operates as a majority-owned subsidiary of PT Pertamina (Persero) with over 58.50% ownership, listing on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in May 2018 under ticker TUGU to bolster capital for reinsurance expansion. Recent developments include robust financial growth with gross premiums rising 37% to IDR 4.1 trillion and operating profits surging 80% to IDR 562 billion through August 2024 driven by Pertamina synergies and non-captive segment expansion, alongside a failed acquisition of PT Asuransi Sonwelis Takaful prompting portfolio shifts in the market, enhanced data warehouse collaboration for operational improvements, ongoing share buybacks, increased shareholder base to over 8,453, and strategic investment portfolio reshuffling toward higher-yield assets amid falling interest rates to optimize returns and solvency well above regulatory requirements.
