Business
Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. is a Bahrain-based industrial enterprise engaged in the manufacturing, smelting, and global distribution of primary aluminium and value-added aluminium products. Established in 1968 and headquartered in Askar, Kingdom of Bahrain, the company operates one of the largest single-site aluminium smelters in the world, serving downstream manufacturers, automotive fabricators, construction suppliers, and packaging converters across the Middle East, Europe, North America, and the Asia-Pacific region. The company produces and markets a diversified portfolio of primary metal and intermediate products, comprising standard ingots, including high-purity P1020 remelt ingots and standard foundry ingots; extrusion billets, engineered in standard and specialized alloys, such as 6060.HE, for architectural, engineering, and structural applications; rolling slabs and ingots, supplied for downstream conversion into beverage cans, automotive sheets, and packaging foils; foundry alloys, delivered in standard ingots, T-ingots, and continuous cast Properzi bars for automotive wheel and chassis casting; high-purity liquid metal, transported via dedicated crucible carriers to adjacent domestic downstream industries; London Metal Exchange registered sows; low-carbon primary aluminium products marketed under the EternAl brand name; and industrial by-products and utility services, including calcined petroleum coke, anode production, treated spent pot lining materials, captive electric power generation, and potable desalinated water. The company supports its international commercial activities through overseas marketing and sales operations in Switzerland and Singapore, alongside its United States subsidiary, Alba Americas Inc. Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. is listed on the Bahrain Bourse and the London Stock Exchange, with major equity ownership held by Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company and the Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Maaden). In recent strategic developments, Maaden completed the acquisition of SABIC Industrial Investments Company’s 20.62% equity stake in the company, establishing a long-term cross-border industrial alliance in the Gulf region. Operationally, the company brought into commercial service its Power Station 5 Block 4 expansion, adding 680.9 MW of hydrogen-ready combined-cycle gas turbine capacity to raise total captive generation to 2,481 MW. Furthermore, the company initiated the commercial rollout of its EternAl low-carbon product variants, commissioned a 6 MW on-site solar photovoltaic installation across plant infrastructure, and transitioned its long-term smelting strategy toward a multi-phase brownfield modernization program to replace and upgrade its legacy reduction lines 1, 2, and 3 with advanced reduction cell technologies.
