Business
Inventiva S.A. (Euronext Paris and Nasdaq: IVA) is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the research and development of oral small molecule therapies targeting nuclear receptors, transcription factors, and epigenetic modulation for patients with significant unmet medical needs in fibrosis, lysosomal storage disorders, and oncology. The company develops its lead product candidate lanifibranor, a pan-peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) agonist that induces anti-fibrotic, anti-inflammatory, and beneficial metabolic changes, currently in the pivotal Phase III NATiV3 clinical trial for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH, formerly NASH); its second clinical-stage asset odiparcil, an orally available small molecule that modifies glycosaminoglycan synthesis for excretion in urine rather than cellular accumulation, targeted at mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS) including MPS VI, with clinical efforts suspended to prioritize lanifibranor while reviewing further development options; and earlier-stage preclinical programs including a Hippo signaling pathway candidate for oncology indications such as non-small cell lung cancer. Inventiva maintains partnerships including licensing and collaboration agreements with Sino Biopharm and Hepalys Pharma, Inc., as well as historical collaborations with AbbVie and Boehringer Ingelheim. Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Daix, France, the company operates a wholly-owned research and development facility with a proprietary library of approximately 240,000 pharmacologically relevant molecules, approximately 60% of which are proprietary, and employs a scientific team of around 90 experts in biology, medicinal chemistry, pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, and clinical development; it serves target markets in the United States, Europe, and Asia through its clinical programs and partnerships. In recent developments, Inventiva completed the first tranche of a multi-tranche equity financing of up to €348 million announced on October 14, 2024, securing €21.4 million in December 2024 through the issuance of new ordinary shares and pre-funded warrants, with proceeds primarily allocated to advance the NATiV3 trial—fully recruited with completion expected in the first half of 2025—and potential new drug application submission; the company appointed Mark Pruzanski as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Srinivas Akkaraju as a new board member in December 2024, separating the roles of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer; and received a $10 million milestone payment under an amended licensing agreement with Chia Tai Tianqing Pharmaceutical (CTTQ). As of late 2025, Inventiva reports cash and cash equivalents of €97.6 million plus €24.7 million in short-term investments, supporting operations into mid-2025 amid intensified trial recruitment.
