In June 2024, Barclays announced and exercised its issuer call option to redeem the outstanding iPath GEMS Index ETN in full on June 28, 2024, with valuation on June 21, 2024, following requisite consents obtained via a prior cash tender offer and consent solicitation that amended the indenture to enable full redemption; holders received cash equal to the closing indicative value, and no further holder redemptions were permitted post-announcement.
Despite the planned 2024 redemption, the ETN continues to trade on OTC markets as of December 2025 with a recent price around $15.92, total assets previously noted at approximately $8.8 million, and no principal protection as an unsecured senior debt obligation of Barclays Bank PLC headquartered in London, United Kingdom.
