Business
KAP Limited, formerly KAP Industrial Holdings Limited, operates as a diversified South African industrial group focused on manufacturing, chemicals, and logistics services with operations spanning South Africa, sub-Saharan Africa, the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Australasia. Founded in 1978 and headquartered in Stellenbosch, the company conducts business through key segments including PG Bison, which produces wood-based decorative panels such as medium-density fibreboard and Supawood for retail, construction, furniture, and residential markets primarily in southern Africa; Safripol, South Africa's sole producer of polyethylene terephthalate and high-density polyethylene and one of two polypropylene producers, supplying polymers for infrastructure, telecommunications, agriculture, packaging, manufacturing, medical piping, containers, fibres, films, non-woven fabrics, and bottling; Unitrans, which delivers integrated supply chain solutions, warehousing, freight, passenger transport, and specialised logistics for sectors including food, agriculture, petrochemicals, and mining across 11 sub-Saharan countries; Feltex, a manufacturer of automotive components and accessories for original equipment manufacturers and aftermarket applications serving global vehicle brands; Restonic, an integrated producer of sleep products including foam, sprung, fabric, and industrial foams under Restonic, iDream, and Green Coil brands plus retail house brands for major South African and Namibian furniture and bedding retailers; and Optix, which provides technology-enabled driver behaviour management, fleet optimisation, risk identification, and safety solutions globally. Recent developments include the name change from KAP Industrial Holdings Limited to KAP Limited in April 2023; completion of major capital projects in fiscal 2024 totalling approximately R2.2 billion, notably PG Bison's R2 billion medium-density fibreboard production line at Mkhondo increasing total capacity by 33% and Safripol's R402 million high-density polyethylene expansion boosting production 23%; acquisition by KAP Automotive Proprietary Limited of 100% shares in Imvusa effective March 2024; ramp-up of these projects driving fiscal 2025 interim revenue growth at PG Bison and Safripol alongside Unitrans restructuring for efficiency; and a new R3 billion revolving credit facility to refinance debt at improved rates.
