Business
Purple Group Limited (JSE: PPE) is a South Africa-based financial services and technology company that operates online trading platforms, investment services, fractional property and cryptocurrency investing, retirement fund administration, and asset management businesses primarily targeting retail investors. Incorporated in 1998 and headquartered in Johannesburg, the company was formerly known as Purple Capital Limited until it changed its name in December 2013; it conducts operations through two main segments, EasyTrader and EasyAssetManagement (EAM), which provide derivatives trading via platforms like GT247.com and asset management services, and the Easy Group segment encompassing EasyEquities for low-cost DIY investing in local and international shares and ETFs, EasyProperties for fractional property investments, EasyCrypto for secure cryptocurrency storage and trading, RISE EasyRetire for retirement fund solutions, as well as EasyBonds, EasyPartnerships, EasyCredit, and EasyProtect offerings that include bonds, customized goal-based robo-advice, credit products, and insurance solutions. The company serves individual investors across South Africa with expansion into international markets including the Philippines via partnerships and plans for Kenya; subsidiaries include 100% ownership of EasyTrader Proprietary Limited, EasyAssetManagement Proprietary Limited, and 70% of First World Trader Proprietary Limited, with a 49.02% stake in EasyDefi Technologies Proprietary Limited. In recent developments, Purple Group reported strong financial growth for the fiscal year ended August 31, 2025, with group revenue up 21.5% to R486.7 million, profit before tax surging 155.7% to R110.4 million, headline earnings per share rising 143.3% to 4.30 cents, retail inflows increasing 48.2% to R11.12 billion, and client assets reaching nearly R81 billion, a 39% year-over-year gain driven by heightened trading volumes in bullish markets and new customer acquisition. Key strategic expansions include deepened partnerships with Capitec Bank, providing access to 15 million digital users through app integration to enhance financial inclusion and investing accessibility, and Discovery Bank with 1 million customers for seamless investment offerings, alongside international collaborations such as with GCash in the Philippines targeting 100 million users; these alliances, combined with product enhancements in EasyCrypto, EasyProtect, and EasyProperties, bolster ecosystem retention and support ambitions for JSE Top 40 inclusion.
