Business
Jersey Oil and Gas Plc (AIM: JOG) is a Jersey-based independent upstream oil and gas company focused on the exploration, appraisal, development and production of oil and gas properties in the UK Continental Shelf region of the North Sea. The company holds a 20% non-operated interest in the Greater Buchan Area licences P2498 (Blocks 20/5a, 20/5e and 21/1a), containing the Buchan Horst oil field redevelopment project and J2 oil discovery, and P2170 (Blocks 20/5b and 21/1d), containing the Verbier oil discovery and drill-ready exploration prospects including Verbier Deep, Wengen and Cortina NE (J64); the Buchan redevelopment centres on redeploying a floating production, storage and offloading vessel with up to five gas-lifted production wells and two water injection wells connected via subsea infrastructure, exporting oil via shuttle tankers and gas by pipeline. Founded in 2007 and headquartered at 5 St Andrew’s Place, St Helier, Jersey, the company targets UK energy security through development of domestic North Sea resources supporting the transition to net zero, with operations centred in the UK Central North Sea approximately 150km northeast of Aberdeen near existing infrastructure. In 2023-2024, Jersey Oil and Gas completed pivotal farm-out transactions divesting partial interests in the Greater Buchan Area to NEO Energy (50% operator interest) and Serica Energy (30% interest), securing full carry funding for its remaining 20% share through to first oil including approximately $25 million in cash milestone payments and expenditure carry to date plus $20 million more upon Field Development Plan approval, alongside a nearly £6 million upfront cash payment from Serica; the P2498 Buchan licence was extended by 24 months to February 2027 to accommodate regulatory delays from UK government consultations on environmental impact assessments, fiscal regime and licensing, while the Western Isles FPSO acquisition agreement was terminated in March 2025 post-longstop date amid project slowdowns, with recontracting possibilities under evaluation.
