Kayne Anderson Renewable Infrastructure Fund Retail Class (KARRX) is a mutual fund that seeks total return through a combination of current income and capital appreciation by investing primarily in equity securities of companies involved in renewable energy development, production, storage, transmission, and distribution; renewable power companies; wind and solar yieldcos; renewable energy developers; and green utilities, with a focus on those generating predictable cash flows from long-term contracts or regulated mechanisms. The fund provides exposure to the global transition to a lower-carbon economy through investments in hard assets like wind farms, solar parks, energy storage, and related infrastructure, targeting an attractive yield with significant growth potential and compelling risk-adjusted returns. Geographically diversified across the United States (58%), Europe and the U.K. (34%), Canada (5%), and Australia, Japan, and other regions (3%), it emphasizes companies participating in the massive global clean energy investment cycle.
Launched in 2020 by Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors, L.P., a leading alternative asset management firm headquartered in Los Angeles, California, with over $30 billion under management and more than 20 years of experience in energy infrastructure investing, the fund expanded Kayne's renewable platform that began dedicated renewable infrastructure investments in 2013 and its first fund in 2017. In November 2020, Kayne supplemented its institutional class shares (KARIX) with the retail class (KARRX), surpassing $50 million in assets shortly thereafter and reaching over $1.5 billion in total firm strategy assets in renewables by early 2021. The fund was liquidated as of January 31, 2025, with shareholders directed to contact the fund at 1-844-955-2963 for inquiries.
