- KKR Credit Opportunities Portfolio (KCOPX) is a closed-end interval fund managed by KKR Credit Advisors (US) LLC that provides investors with access to a diversified portfolio of income-generating credit investments across public and private markets. The fund primarily invests at least 80% of its managed assets in senior and subordinated corporate debt and debt-related instruments, including high-yield bonds, first- and second-lien secured bank loans, structured credit such as collateralized loan obligations (CLOs), convertible securities, and private credit opportunities like directly originated senior loans, mezzanine debt, and asset-based lending to upper middle-market companies; it targets issuers in the United States, Europe, and emerging markets with a focus on below-investment-grade debt for attractive risk-adjusted returns and current income. Launched in 2020 as part of KKR's global credit platform, the fund, headquartered in San Francisco, California, offers daily subscriptions at net asset value, quarterly repurchase offers of at least 5% of outstanding shares, and operates without investor eligibility restrictions or performance fees.
In June 2025, the fund announced plans to convert to the KKR Asset-Based Finance Fund (K-ABF), shifting its investment strategy to a multi-sector focus on privately sourced asset-based finance (ABF) investments across consumer, mortgage, commercial real estate, hard assets, and contract cash flow sectors, with the conversion expected to take effect on or about August 30, 2025, pending shareholder approval at a special meeting on August 25, 2025. This strategic reorganization, approved by the board with amendments to investment objectives, policies, and a new advisory agreement with KKR Credit (US) LLC, aims to capitalize on the growing ABF market by leveraging KKR's 20 proprietary origination platforms, over $84 billion in ABF assets under management, and 50+ investment professionals. The move aligns with KKR's broader credit expansions, including recent launches of evergreen direct lending funds and partnerships such as those with Capital Group for public-private credit strategies in 2025.
