Business
Katakura Industries Co.,Ltd. is a Japan-based diversified industrial company engaged in the textiles, pharmaceuticals, machinery, real estate, and other businesses. The company manufactures and sells textile products including high-quality undergarments, hosiery, aprons, casual wear, and relaxing garments; functional fibers such as water-soluble fibers (Solvron) and thermal resistant fibers (NITIVY ALF); and licenses fashion brands including David Hicks. In pharmaceuticals, it produces cardiac medicines for cardiovascular illnesses including angina pectoris and cardiac infarction, with products such as Frandol and Bisono tape. The machinery segment specializes in manufacturing and selling custom-made fire pump trucks, firefighting vehicles including articulating boom trucks and airport crash tenders, and other firefighting equipment tailored to local needs. The real estate division develops and leases commercial facilities, shopping centers including Cocoon City in Saitama Shintoshin, comprehensive model home park sites, and manages company-owned land. Additional activities include agriculture-related products such as breeding and sales of honeybees and honey production, agrochemicals, general building maintenance and management, and the operation of plant and pet specialty shops. Founded in 1873 and headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, Katakura Industries operates primarily in the Japanese market. Recent major developments include a strategic partnership formed in June 2025 with Magirus GmbH, a global leader in firefighting technology, appointing Katakura's subsidiary Nihon Kikai Kogyo Co., Ltd. as the key partner for service and sales in Japan. This alliance enhances Magirus' local presence with a strong focus on service, maintenance, and customer support. Additionally, Katakura's Cocoon City commercial facility reported record-high revenues for three consecutive terms through 2024, with new store openings including prominent names such as Tsuchiya Bag and the first domestic concept store for Godiva, supporting the company's real estate growth strategy. Katakura also continues conservation support activities aligned with sustainability and cultural heritage preservation, evidenced through programs related to the Tomioka Silk Mill heritage site. The company leverages its century-long expertise to strengthen its diversified business portfolio and maintain steady performance in both traditional and emerging segments.
