Business
Simplify Kayne Anderson Energy and Infrastructure Credit ETF (KNRG) is an actively managed exchange-traded fund that primarily seeks current income through investments in credit instruments issued by energy and infrastructure companies, with a secondary objective of capital appreciation; these instruments encompass bonds, notes, loans, hybrid securities, preferred shares, and related derivatives. The ETF employs an opportunistic strategy focused on relative value opportunities within higher-yield, higher-credit-quality securities compared to traditional high yield bond indices, targeting sectors critical to global economic activity such as oil and gas, power generation, transportation, utilities, and renewable infrastructure. Under normal circumstances, KNRG invests at least 80% of its net assets (plus borrowings for investment purposes) in such credit instruments from energy companies, including upstream, midstream, and downstream operators, and infrastructure companies involved in toll roads, airports, ports, distribution facilities, waste collection, broadcast and wireless towers, energy infrastructure assets, and cable and satellite networks. Launched on May 27, 2025, by Simplify Asset Management Inc., with headquarters in Las Vegas, Nevada, the ETF is sub-advised by Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors, L.P., based in Houston, Texas, leveraging the sub-advisor's decades of expertise in public and private energy infrastructure investments; Simplify manages the ETF as part of its lineup of innovative equity and income-focused exchange-traded funds, while Kayne Anderson, founded in 1984, oversees approximately $38 billion in assets across real estate, credit, infrastructure, and energy strategies. The most significant recent development is the ETF's inception and formal launch in May 2025 through a strategic partnership between Simplify Asset Management and Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors, introducing a novel income-oriented product with intra-day liquidity and Form 1099 tax simplicity to provide investors access to specialized energy and infrastructure credit markets; this alliance combines Simplify's established ETF platform with Kayne Anderson's sector-specific knowledge to capitalize on macro tailwinds like energy security, manufacturing reshoring, and economic digitization.
